13 The Musical Fansite

A new musical about the one thing we never stop doing – growing up.

I am going to French Woods Festival of the performing arts this year for theatre. I wanted to know how auditions go, how many shows i should/can audition for, and if younger kids can get leads in a 11-17 production. Can anyone answer my questions? Thanks :] !

I go to French Woods. Auditions start on the first day of camp and continue on to the next day. For the musicals auditions you wait in a big room (which is also a theatre for some shows) with a bunch of other people (you can be waiting in there for hours) then you move into a different room (which is also a theatre for some shows) where all the directors are. Also there are 3 rows of seats where you wait your turn for your audition in the room. When you're auditioning for a musical, you're auditioning for all the musicals in your age range. If you want to audition for a drama, you have to audition seperatly, I'm not sure what the exact process is for the dramas because I didn't audition for it, but I know that they give you a part from the script (most likely a monolouge) and you read it for the director(s?). One of the girls in my bunk was in Beauty and the Beast over the summer (which was a 11-17 show) and she was 14, but she was ensamble, so I don't know anyone who got a lead in a 11-17 show, but I guess that doesn't mean it's not possible. : )

If I'm not right about any of this stuff just correct me. : )
What session are you going?
