13 The Musical Fansite

A new musical about the one thing we never stop doing – growing up.

Out of the 20 some shows closing because of the economy if you got to save one what would it be and why?
I would save 13 because i want to be in and i would save spring awaking because i want to see it and its only been on b-way for two years.

I would save '13' and 'Hairspray' because I love them.
They already closed but I would have saved 'Xanadu' and 'Legally Blonde' because they were so much fun and could make you happy no matter your mood when walking in the theatre.

Everybody is always talking about Xanadu and how great it is, what is it about?

"Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time - the first ROLLER DISCO…hey, it's 1980! But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.

This hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you, rolls along to the original hit score composed by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, and includes, “Magic”, “All Over The World”, “Suddenly”, “I’m Alive”, "Evil Woman", "Have You Never Been Mellow" and “Xanadu”, to name a few, and is based on the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly.

It's hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired, as one of Broadway's master storytellers, Douglas Carter Beane, weaves a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep you in stitches, while the original, legendary chart-topping tunes lift you out of your seat. You'll want to keep the music in your head, and Xanadu in your heart, forever."

Spring Awakening and RENT. But, RENT didn't close because of the economy.

do you know why rent closed then cuz I thought it was because of the economy (and those are the two musicals I would save too and [title of show])

Reply to This

Well, I just assumed it closed because it had been on for so long. Because the economy wasn't as bad then as it is now, was it? Idk.

yeah thats what I thought too, but i think also because after so long it wasnt making enough money in general without economic problems. Like, families arent really going to see Rent, its amazing but its not a family show. Same with Spring Awakening...it was amazing but a 5 year old and a grandma dont want to see sex scenes and all that stuff.
